Daughters of Charity: Martyrs in Madrid

Abstract
6,832 Catholic people were killed during the Spanish Civil War of 1936-39, because of their faith. Among them were 27 Daughters of Charity and one of their lay collaborators. They were beatified by Pope Francis on October 13, 2013. This article provides brief sketches of those individuals and gives an account of the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
